Opportunities

AFTER SCHOOL CARE
THE MINT Foundation offers after school care for students in the DeSoto Independent School District. We offer pickup from select schools and offer an after school meal and homework assistance. We are always in need of volunteers and mentors for this program.

All volunteers for this program will have to complete a criminal background check. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANYONE WITH A FELONY OR A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE OR ABUSE TO CHILDREN OR ADULTS.

FOOD PANTRY
Our weekly food pantry depends on community volunteers to assist with distribution of food resources to over 400 clients on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The hours of our food pantry are from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., but we ask volunteers to assist however many hours they can. We begin preparation at 8:00 a.m. and need assistance until 3:00 p.m. to help with clean up and restocking. There may be opportunities for stocking on Monday and Friday, so feel free to CONTACT US and let us know if you are interested in non-pantry food days.

COURT-ORDERED
THE MINT Foundation offers individuals that have been given court ordered community service hours the opportunity to complete their hours at our facility. Please ask your Judge or Probation Officer if you can complete your hours with THE MINT Foundation in DeSoto, TX. If they need to verify we are accepting volunteers for community service hours or speak with us regarding our programs, please have them call (972) 224-7200 and ask to speak with our Volunteer Coordinator.

SCHOOL REQUIRED
We are proud to partner with local school districts to offer volunteering hours to students that are required to be involved in community service. Not only does this allow THE MINT Foundation to continue its' mission in the community, but it also provides students the opportunity to become involved in their community, while providing them with the following opportunities:

• Make new friends
• Learn about the community
• Develop leadership skills
• Enhance resume
• Learn new skills
• Explore interests
• Gain self-confidence

Student volunteers are always under the supervision of adult staff and will not be asked to perform duties beyond their physical or mental capabilities.

WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANYONE WITH A FELONY OR A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE OR ABUSE TO CHILDREN OR ADULTS.
